3 Tips for Raising Healthy Eaters
Expand their palate
First thing’s first.
If you force your kids palate into a small box and expect them to eat outside the box – you’re in for a big surprise. And not a good one.
By expanding their palate early on, you are opening up a variety of foods for them to learn to love which makes feeding them healthy foods so much easier.
Expand their palate by feeding them:
- A variety of healthy foods
- A variety of colours (hello, fruits and veggies!)
- Foods you don’t like
Keep it plain, Jane
Our kids can’t learn what healthy foods taste like if they are covered in ketchup, bbq sauce or ranch dressing.
True story.
Let your kids experience the real and dense flavours of healthy foods!
Keep it plain by:
- reducing sauces as much as possible
- reducing salt as much as possible
- keeping foods bare and in their original form as much as possible
Be an example
Kids are master multitaskers. They are well aware of your eating habits whether you want to admit that or not.
You can’t expect your kids to be healthy eaters if you aren’t setting a good example.
You can be an example by:
- Eating healthy foods
- Eating a variety of foods
- Learning to stop when you’re full
